Two Pembrokeshire primary schools took part in the launch of a major new award scheme last week.

Youngsters from Lamphey and Coastlands primary schools were guests at the Welsh launch of the Junior Achievement Awards at Aberaeron on Friday.

The two schools took part in a pilot scheme for the award earlier this year - the only schools in Wales to do so.

Under the newly accredited award scheme, youngsters aim to undertake and complete five activities of their choice - from sport to drama - within 15 hours.

At Friday's launch, pupils from the two Pembrokeshire schools gave a presentation about the activities they had undertaken to an invited audience of head teachers, representatives of Youth Cymru and other educational professionals.

Clr. Huw George, cabinet member for children and young people, presented certificates of completion and attendance to each pupil.

The youngsters carried out their activities under the supervision of Damian Golden and Amanda Kendrick, specialised youth workers with Pembrokeshire Youth - Pembrokeshire County Council's children and youth action team.
