Sageston and Manorbier Year 6 pupils took part in exciting field events with the Darwin Centre last week.

Both schools visited Carew Tidal Mill to take a look at the amazing machinery and engineering inside what is the last remaining tidal mill in Wales.

The mill, managed by the National Park, sets the scene for a follow-up workshop on renewable energy. The pupils experience how powerful nature can be through tidal movement and are asked to think about waves, wind and solar energy.

The workshop gives the pupils a chance to learn about how electricity is produced and the implications of burning fossil fuels; the group also power up a steam engine and make electromagnets.

The event is sponsored by local energy company, Dragon LNG. The sponsors have supported over 1,000 pupils in learning about sustainable development in Pembrokeshire.

Darwin Centre manager, Marten Lewis, would like to thank both schools, Dragon LNG and the National Park.
