A group of pupils from Golden Grove School/Ysgol Gelli Aur in Pembroke recently visited their local Post Office in Pembroke.

They were greeted by Nic and Mark Wilson, the owners of the business.

The pupils were given an insight to the work of the post office, with the pupils being interested to learn of the very wide range of services on offer.

They were also able to handle some different currencies, Euros, Australian dollars, Canadian dollars and all the different sterling notes. The issue of exchange rates was explained to them, something which they found very interesting.

Whilst at the Post Office, the pupils decided that a postcard race would be run. Two postcards, kindly donated to the pupils for the experiment by Mrs. Wilson, were stamped with a first and a second class stamp and addressed to the school.

On the Monday after the Friday visit, the pupils waited eagerly for the post delivery to school - they were duly rewarded with the delivery of both cards! The pupils will now discuss how the experiment can be fine-tuned.

Golden Grove School/Ysgol Gelli Aur would like to thank Mr. and Mrs. Wilson for their hospitality during the visit.
