Danny and Tanya Davies, along with their family run a large dairy enterprise on Good Hook Farm near Haverfordwest.
In recent years they have also started growing pumpkins which are sold during the autumn and in particular the weeks running up to Halloween.
This year they produced over ten thousand pumpkins and, using a pick your own format welcomed thousands of customers onto their farm. Friday nights were particularly popular with families picking after dark on what became known as ‘Freaky Fridays’.
In what was a most generous gesture, the Davies family decided to hold a half price Pumpkin sale on the last Friday before Halloween and donate all of the proceeds to the Welsh prostate cancer charity Prostate Cymru.
As a result £700 was donated to the charity which the chairman of the Pembrokeshire Friends of Prostate Cymru Brian Harries, described as a ‘magnificent’ effort.
One in eight men is affected by prostate cancer which becomes one in three if there is a family history.
All monies raised provide the essential funding needed for Prostate Cymru to continue raising awareness and provide support where needed to our medical teams helping to bring world class treatments to all Welsh men suffering from prostate disease.
