A Tenby day nursery unveiled a new play area for its toddlers this week which had been revamped by a group of local school pupils.
The VIP 12 Pathways Group, made up of students from Greenhill School, took on a project last September to upgrade and transform the outdoor play area of Puddleducks, which is based at Park House Court in Tenby.
The students explained at the opening of the play area that they tried to set out an interesting and educational design during the planning stage of the project, which included a healthy eating area using the theme 'grow it, cook it and eat it', and also a sensory and visual area for the outdoor area's herb garden.
On top of that, the VIP 12 students incorporated the Welsh language into the design with words and pictures, while a fun and educational road was also introduced with road safety signs and windy paths for the children to follow.
The group wish to thank everyone who donated money to help make the project possible, including the Tenby and Saundersfoot Lions, Tenby Town Council and Pembrokeshire Youth Bank, and also a big thank you to Puddleducks day nursery leader Katie Broadhurst and her staff for their input towards the project.
Thanks also went to Linda Stapleton and Anthony Harries for their help and support to the group through the whole scheme.
The Mayor of Tenby, Clr. Mrs. Julie Evans, who was at the opening of the play area, said it was really lovely to see the project come to fruition.
Tom Stewart-Walvin, of Pembrokeshire YouthBank who gave grant funding of almost £500, added: "It's fantastic to see the grant money has been used for such a worthwhile cause and I'm really pleased with the results of this project."
Young people from the sixth form VIP 12 Pathways group carry out a number of community-based projects around the Tenby area each year, gaining valuable experience and qualifications from their involvement in this work.
