A Tenby nursery nurse who is travelling to eastern Europe to fulfil a long-standing ambition to work in a children's orphanage has been presented with a cheque this week by her young friends and colleagues at Puddleducks Nursery.

As recently reported, Amie Duffy, aged 24, has her suitcase already packed full of toys, clothes and baby equipment which she has collected to take out to the small children's rehabilitation centre in Moldova.

She will spend three weeks as a volunteer in the orphanage, where there are 200 children, from babies up to five-year-olds, some of them disabled.

"Amie has worked for Puddleducks for almost nine years and has been a valued member of our team, having her own responsibilities," said manager Katie Broadhurst.

"Amie is an extremely hard worker and will be missed," added Katie, who wished Amie well for her new experiences in Moldova and her new job in Tenby Infants School.

Amie added: "I would like to take this opportunity to thank Philip, Peter and Chris Parker, matron, Katie Broadhurst and all the girls at Puddleducks for their generous donation and continuous support."

Amie flies out of Heathrow on July 25 to Vienna and then on to the Moldovan capital of Chisinau where the orphanage is situated.
