The Pembroke and District Committee of Macmillan Cancer Relief recently held a very successful Pudding Night at the Pater Hall in Pembroke Dock. The wide variety of delicious home-made puddings was enjoyed by all, many coming back for 'seconds'. The 'quilt' raffle, which raised £400, was won by Mrs. Morgan from Ferryside, and the many other winners in the enormous raffle were delighted with their prizes. Everyone enjoyed the 'Humour and Harmony' entertainment provided by Dennis Reed, Dawn and Vera, Alwen Hughes, Joan Bell and the Silvertones directed by Chris Lloyd at the piano. Phil Lloyd was MC for the evening, and nearly £1,180 was raised for Macmillan's charitable works. The next fund-raising event to be organised by the committee will be the Christmas bazaar at Pembroke Town Hall on Friday, December 3, from 10 am to 12 noon, and a Christmas tree raffle will take place at the Forget-me-Not flower shop in Pembroke Main Street from December 1-17. The annual Christmas concert with the Griffon Choir will be held at Monkton Priory Church on Sunday, December 12, starting at 8 pm.
