A full planning application has now been submitted with regard to the former primary school building in Narberth.

The plans, which have been submitted to Pembrokeshire County Council, comprise of the demolition of the school building and erection of a Sainsbury's convenience food store, non food retail units, a betting shop, café, hot food takeaway, day nursery and residential apartments, with associated car parking and delivery area.

Tom Trenchard, head of convenience acquisitions south for Sainsbury's, said: "The store will create between 20 and 25 new jobs for local people and bring additional footfall to the town, benefiting all."

County councillor for Narberth, Wynne Evans has encouraged the people of the town to have their say on the plans.

"I am sure people will want to make comments on the application, and I encourage them to do so," said Clr. Evans.

The end of the consultation period is November 21, and plans can be viewed with full drawings and artist impressions via Pembrokeshire County Council, or from the Narberth Town Council clerk, by prior arrangement with the clerk.

The application ref. is 14/0724/pa, and it is likely that the plans for the Townsmoor site will be put to the full county council planning committee early in 2015.

"I feel it is quite important that the public make their views known on this huge development, and avail themselves of the opportunity to view the drawings, and make comments via the correct process, and within planning guidelines," added Clr. Evans.
