There will be a public meeting regarding the amalgamation of Tenby's Infant and Junior Schools and new build Welsh medium school on Wednesday, July 23, 7.30 pm, at Heywood Mount Hotel. All are welcome to attend. There will be a presence from the local town council as well as Simon Hart, local MP. The proposal for the new school is to accommodate Welsh medium pupils in the Tenby area. At the time of the proposal there were 297 and 37 part-time English medium pupils between the Infant and Junior Schools and 67 full-time and 18 part-time Welsh medium pupils between the schools. The new school project will provide 390 places accommodating the English stream and 240 places for the Welsh stream pupils. "At the time of the proposals there was a budget for Welsh language education allocated to Pembrokeshire; this was entirely the reason for passing the new school plans," said one parent "At present, small, local schools are being closed all over Pembrokeshire; however in Tenby we are knocking down an amazing infant school to make way for a school for 67 full-time Welsh medium pupils. "If anyone has any thoughts regarding this proposal, please come to the meeting.
