Sir,

How frustrating that Pembrokeshire County Council is being so stubborn about the availability of public toilets in Tenby. The council argues that we have more 'loos per square mile' than say other towns like Haverfordwest, but that is missing the point.

The problem is that the facilities are in the wrong place, making access to the elderly, the young and to the large numbers of holidaymakers in the summer incredibly difficult.

The council claims that there are facilities in Upper Frog Street, yet everyone knows these are disabled only.

Two-and-a-half thousand people have signed a petition to say we need more loos, and the Mayor and town council have been both patient and reasonable in their requests.

It surely cannot be unreasonable to expect the council to provide a service that the public needs and has already paid for.

Instead we are palmed off with unconvincing council double-speak which, once decoded, simply says 'we're not interested, go away'.

Council tax payers deserve rather better than they are getting.
