A bid by a Tenby pub to extend its public entertainment licence (PEL) to allow it to open until 1 am, seven days a week, was given the thumbs down by Tenby Town Council this week.
The application by Mr. Keith May, of the Three Mariners, came before the council on Tuesday for their observations to the county council's licensing committee.
Members were told that the St. George Street pub's existing PEL operates until 12 midnight on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays and until 12.30 am on Sundays.
Mr. May is now seeking a licence to run from 7 pm until 1 am Monday to Sunday, but Clr. Philip Crockford felt that the application should be refused.
"This is in a residential area and the people that live there should be allowed to have some peace now and again," he commented.
