Narberth Civic Week is giving away a total of £1,040 for the winning entries in this year's carnival.

The top prize of £500 will be given to the best overall float, with the remaining £540 being awarded to the various classes as listed in the brochure.

The carnival is tomorrow (Saturday, July 27), and all are welcome to participate. There is no need to register beforehand and there is no charge for entering the carnival parade.

Floats are to assemble at Station Road, by 1 pm and judging will take place at 1.15 pm, before the start of the parade at 2 pm. Walkers are to meet at the entrance to the rugby club in Spring Gardens by 1.45 pm.

There is to be no alcohol on the floats and silly string is banned from Narberth on the day.

Brochures listing the various categories and the events for Civic Week, July 21-27, are on sale in various shops in Narberth at £1 each or can be obtained by sending a cheque for £1 made payable to Narberth Civic Week and a self-addressed envelope to the secretary, at Sunnyhill, Woodford Lane, Robeston Wathen, Narberth, SA67 8EN.
