Saundersfoot Chamber for Tourism, in its capacity as a catalyst to promote events for Saundersfoot, are extremely pleased to be working in partnership with Texaco and Saundersfoot Sports & Social Club to present an open air extravaganza.

Following the great success of al fresco air classical concerts around the Country, Saundersfoot Chamber for Tourism are well advanced with the final arrangements for Saundersfoot's own "Proms in the Park" featuring the Cardiff Philharmonic Orchestra.

The Chamber are being supported by the extremely generous sponsorship of Texaco with Mr Phil Thompson lending his great expertise in organising such events, and Saundersfoot Sports and Social Club who are providing the natural amphitheatre of the sports field.

The Cardiff Philharmonic, being one of the leading Orchestras in Wales, are planning an evening of classical favourites culminating in a surprise finale.

"The evening of Saturday, June 2, promises to be a night to remember," said spokesman Phil Baker. "Saundersfoot is becoming well known for its family events and this concert promises to be no exception."

Ticket sales are already surprising the organising committee with Pembrokeshire County Council allowing ticket sales in the Tourist Information Centres. There will only be a small number of tickets at the gate on the night and it is recommended that your tickets are purchased early. To encourage a family evening of picnic and proms the tickets are priced at only £6 with children 11 and under free.

Phil went on to comment that, for the first time ever, the Orchestra will be holding a children's musical workshop with rehearsals at 3 pm and a mini concert at 3.30 pm with the main concert starting at 7.30 pm and gates open at 7 pm.

The Chamber will be contacting local schools and music teachers to select 50 very lucky children to participate.

Texaco, as the main sponsors of the Orchestra were able to offer the village this one-day that the Philharmonic were available in 2001.

The Chamber were eager to accept this extremely generous offer, as the event will be an early major fund raiser to ensure the continued success of the events which have quickly become well established in the village calendar.

The St Nicholas Christmas Market will be held on November 30 for three days and the New Years Eve celebration is already well in hand (The Chamber are grateful for the continuing support of the Harbour Commissioners).

So prepare for a night to remember and join the village of Saundersfoot for a picnic and prom in the park.
