A MEMBER of the Royal Artillery who grew up in Narberth is to be given a prestigious promotion next year.

Thirty-eight-year-old Wayne Eynon, a former pupil at Narberth Secondary School, enlisted into the Army at Pembroke Dock in September of 1986 and joined the Royal Artillery the following month.

He has served with the Royal Artillery throughout his career and is currently with Headquarters 4th Mechanised Brigade at Catterick, North Yorkshire, as a Warrant Officer Class One.

Born in Haverfordwest and a twin to Maureen and Michael Eynon, Wayne is married to Joanne, with whom he has a son, 10-year-old Harry.

Wayne, who has seen service all over the world, including Northern Ireland, the Gulf and Cyprus, has just returned from duty in Iraq. He will be promoted to Captain in the Royal Artillery on April 1 next year.
