The Saundersfoot Probus Club held their annual Christmas lunch at the Tudor Lodge Hotel, Jameston. Members and their wives enjoyed a very nice meal and were very pleased to have the president of Saundersfoot Rotary Club, Mr. Norman Spence, and his wife, as special guests.

Last Thursday, the club held its annual general meeting. The president, Mr. James Morris, gave a review of the club's activities for his year of office. A successful number of trips had been accomplished, along with some interesting talks given, not only by club members, but also visiting speakers.

Ladies lunches throughout the year had all resulted in great satisfaction as they offered a great opportunity for a social get- together. A quiz lunch was greatly appreciated and, by popular request, was to be repeated very shortly.

The president concluded by thanking all his officers and members of Probus who had provided great help and support throughout the year. This was followed by the treasurer's review and he was able to report a healthy balance in the club funds.

The president, James Morris, then had the pleasure of handing over the badge of office to John Parker, who is now the club president for 2008. John Parker then handed the badge of office for vice-president to Ken Phillips.

The job of social secretary remains in the capable hands of John Whittaker, with continued excellent support from Philip Philo, club secretary, treasurer Rodney Jameson, and almoner Robert Delpech. The Saundersfoot Probus Club continues to provide a forum for retired or semi-retired Saundersfoot and district people to discuss topics of mutual interest. External speakers are invited to give talks on a diverse range of subjects aimed at the interests of the members. Meetings are held every second and fourth Wednesday in the month in a convivial atmosphere at the Sports Club, Regency Hall, Saundersfoot.

The club's activities include outings to places of interest, lunches, etc., when wives and friends are invited to participate. Make it your (late) New Year resolution to join this social group; you won't regret it.

The club's fees are only £10 a year and a warm reception awaits any new members who would like to do something different in 2008 by joining an organisation geared to put that little extra excitement in their social life.
