PROBUS CLUB

January 17 was the second meeting of 2001 of the Tenby Probus Club and brought a slightly larger crowd of members to the Bowling Club. Whether this improvement was due to better weather or some of the members recovering from winter blues we shall never know.

There were no visitors, nine apologies for absence and we were informed that Bill Best had had a fall and was absent due to this. Hurry up and repair the bruises Bill, the bowling season is getting nearer.

It was announced that the following birthdays would be celebrated before the next meeting. Doug Perry on the 20th of the month and Phil Davies on February 4. Congratulations to both gentlemen.

The president announced that on January 31, being the 5th Wednesday in the month, we would be trying, as an experiment, a lunch visit to the Begelly Arms at 12.30 pm, where the ladies would be invited and transport for them would be arranged by the car owners who were going. The ladies had already been invited and it was to be just an informal lunch. Plans for further Fifth Wednesdays would be announced later.

In any other business the president put forward an idea he had for the club to form a "Share Club" to play with money on a fun basis. He explained his idea in more detail and it was left for the members present to mull it over and bring their own ideas to the next meeting that will take place on February 7.

There was also notice given of the Bowling Club Quiz for Leukaemia on January 25 and a team was invited to take part. The president to lead the way.

After the raffle, the president closed the meeting confirming the date of the next meeting at the Bowling Club on February 7.
