Pembrokeshire hosted a Royal visit yesterday (Thursday). HRH The Princess Royal paid an hour-long visit to the HOPE Therapy Centre near Neyland which treats Multiple Sclerosis (MS) sufferers. The HOPE (Hyperbaric Oxygen Pembrokeshire Endeavour) Centre is 20 years old this month and is a registered charity. Based at the Honeyborough Business Park, the facility houses a hyperbaric oxygen chamber in which MS sufferers can breath pure medical oxygen at a pressure equivalent to being 33 feet below sea level. Known as High Dosage Oxygen Therapy, it is a well-known treatment for people with MS. It works by increasing the oxygen in the blood stream which tends to speed up the natural healing process. During the visit, The Princess Royal observed the chamber in operation, as well as meeting a number of MS sufferers and their helpers. Before leaving, she also cut a cake to mark the centre's birthday.
