The Rotary Club of Tenby was delighted recently to present Tenby Dolphins with the prestigious Mallow Shield. The Mallow Shield, was founded in 1976, when the Tenby club was twinned with the Rotary Club of Mallow in Ireland. The Mallow club president at the time, Rotarian P. Roberts, donated the Mallow Shield to the Tenby club and asked for it to be awarded to a young person or organisation of young people in the Tenby area for outstanding achievement in the community. The Rotary Club felt that Tenby Dolphins richly deserved the award for the consistent high standard of achievement, coaching and encouragement that they have shown over many years in developing many outstanding swimmers in the local area. The award was presented at a recent meeting of the Rotary Club when president Stephen Williams presented the shield to stalwart leader of the Tenby Dolphins, John Amos. President Stephen was also pleased to present Mr. Amos with a donation towards the Dolphin's funds. In reply, Mr. Amos sincerely thanked the Rotary Club for their recognition, and gave a short talk on the history of the Dolphins and their current activities.
