THE chairman of the Friends of the Pembrokeshire National Park, Peter Heard (standing), presented two long-serving members of the Friends executive committee with garden seats to mark many years of voluntary service.

Caroline Potter has retired after seven years as the highly successful events organiser for the Friends. She has also served as press officer.

Seated with her is Ian Meopham, a senior ranger with the National Park Authority, who received a seat on behalf of his father, Brian Meopham. Mr. Meopham, senior, has been for the past 12 years the leader of the work party programme which has included valuable environmental improvements in virtually every part of the National Park .

Said Mr. Heard: "The seats are a small token to mark the huge debt everyone who loves the unique Pembrokeshire National Park environment owes to hardworking volunteers such as Caroline and Brian."
