A COLOUR picture of the floral display in the garden of the Tenby War Memorial is the front cover of the October issue of Vanguard, the official journal of The Royal Naval Association.

The photograph, with the words 'Lest We Forget', was taken by Mrs. Diana Hutton.

Deputy editor of the magazine, Mrs. Hutton sent a complimentary copy of the publication to the Pembrokeshire County Council gardeners responsible for the display.

In an accompanying letter, she wrote: 'The grounds are a credit to both the gardening staff and the town... my thanks for a very appropriate design to our servicemen and women."

Brian Maddocks, the county council's head of maintenance, said the gardeners were delighted that their efforts had been recognised in such a public way.

Mrs. Hutton now lives in Urmston, Manchester, but was brought up in Saundersfoot where she has a holiday caravan, with the photograph being taken on a recent holiday.

"The magazine comes out twice a year and we have received very favourable feedback from the picture," she said.
