A care team at a Tenby nursing home has been praised for their dedication in keeping their environment Covid free throughout the pandemic.
The entire care team at Belmont Court Care Home located on Heywood Lane deserve the ‘highest of praise’ for their swift and efficient management of the lockdown of the home prior to the government applying restrictions, said the facility’s manager Gavin Strong.
“Their dedication to the residents of the home has been second to none - they are true heroes,” said Gavin.
“This, their knowledge and skill in dealing with infection control issues, consistency of adopting the stringent procedures specific to this virus, were instrumental in keeping the virus out and the residents and staff safe.
“A huge thank you to the relatives and friends of the residents who supported the difficult decision to lock down early as soon as the World Health Organisation declared a pandemic.”
Gavin also praised the support and understanding from partner groups such as - social services, district nurses, the Health Board and Pembrokeshire County Council, stating that their help was essential, especially with the Covid-19 regulation updates and the supply of PPE, and also prior to the availability of testing, their understanding that admissions to the home could only take place after a negative test.
“Thanks go to the local community of supporters such as Anthea Evenden and her team for supplying us with scrubs, our local suppliers of food, medical supplies etc, and extra PPE - they need a big thank you, as they never failed us, and kept us going!” he continued.
“Thanks also go to the individuals who 3D printed shields as extra protection for the staff; and also Poundland for their generous donation of sweets and treats that were shared by all.”
