Last weekend, the Exhibition Hall, Pembrokeshire Showground, was again the venue for the Welsh National Poultry Show, held on a Sunday for the first time. Organised annually by the Dyfed Poultry Club, and sponsored by the Pembrokeshire Agricultural Society, entries in all sections again numbered well in excess of 800 with some breeders embarking on a 400-mile round trip in order to show off their excellent stock. The supreme champion at Haverfordwest was a yearling heavy, soft feathered Brahma male - a huge, very good natured and docile bird - bred by a widely known exhibitor, David Picton-Jones, of Lampeter - president-elect of the Dyfed Society. Price, Aberdare. Waterfowl - P. Birch; res - M. Hicks, Oswestry. Ducks, Bantam - L. Partridge, Cwmbran; Large - P. Birch. Any other variety fowl - E. Davies, Clynderwen (turkey). Juvenile - A.
