TENBY'S Post Office master Mr. David Phillips retired last week after 36 years of duty, with his colleagues offering him the highest of praise for his time in charge and best wishes for the future. David from Lydstep started work at Tenby Post Office as a Christmas casual back in 1968. Married to Christine, who works for TP Hughes in Tenby, he eventually became manager in July 1985. The couple's daughter, Tina, also works at Tenby Post Office Speaking of his retirement, two of David's colleagues, Dan Folland and John Kicinski, revealed how he would be sorely missed. "He's been the best boss you could ever hope to work for, a real gentleman and a scholar, and a friend to everyone," said John. "We would all like to wish David the very best of luck for the future, and we'll all miss him a great deal... but in a manly way," joked Dan. A dinner to celebrate David's retirement will be held at the Tenby's Royal Gate House Hotel tomorrow (Saturday) evening.
