Templeton welcomed the Post Office van on Monday (March 9) on the first day of the new service for the community.

The community had been without services since 2008 when the Post Office on the main street was closed.

Since then people have had to go to Narberth or further afield to buy stamps, pay into their accounts, get money out, collect their pension etc. – not always easy or convenient.

Now, however, Templeton is delighted to welcome the van coming once a week, and look forward to it becoming a really popular stop!

This service will stop at the car park opposite Templeton Community Hall, every Monday from 4 to 5 pm.

This will be a temporary mobile service while the Post Office continue to seek a permanent solution.

The travelling Post Office, is aboard a specifically designed vehicle. The Postmaster for Kilgetty already provides mobile Post Office service to nine rural communities.

Jeremy Kiff, Post Office Change Manager, said: “We are delighted to be able to restore Post Office service to Templeton whilst we continue to look for a permanent solution.

“A Mobile Post Office service is a tried and tested way of maintaining service to smaller communities.”

Vicky Mitchell clerk to Templeton Community Council said that the service would be a welcome return.

“After nearly twelve years of the community being without the service - we hope that it will prove really popular and appreciated!” she commented.
