Following our report last week, County Clr. Wynne Evans says he has received many positive comments about the proposed new development at the old primary school in Narberth and the careful consideration given by the developers in choosing a design that fits well into the overall ambience of the town. The development includes the provision of a new Sainsburys convenience store, but Clr Evans said: "One major factor is also the creation of new homes. It is anticipated that under a 106 agreement, 16 new one and two-bed flats will be created. These will be of affordable rents and will go to applicants who are local to the town or can prove a local connection to Narberth." Clr. Evans continued: "Each will come with a parking space and these homes will also be available to current tenants of Choice Homes, Pembs., who wish to down-size from their larger properties and thus free up these houses for other future tenants. I feel a 106 agreement is far more sustainable from a developer in a form of homes rather than financial contributions to organisations etc, and with nearly 400 waiting for homes in the town, then this is a win-win situation."
