Milford Haven Port Authority is supporting the Maritime Coastguard Agency's Open Day to be held at their Hakin office this coming Sunday by opening their marine facilities to the public who will have an opportunity to visit the Port Authority's headquarters at Gorsewood Drive, Hakin.

Visitors will be able to visit Port Control which is the nerve centre for the authority's marine operations covering the whole of the Milford Haven Waterway. Port Control holds a prominent, lofty position with views along the Haven and visitors will be able to witness the marine officers dealing with the port's daily operations.

In addition to visiting Port Control, members of the public will be able to go to the Port Authority's jetty and view the pilot cutters and other marine craft used on a daily basis.

Commenting, deputy harbourmaster, Bill Hirst, said: "We are pleased to support the Maritime Coastguard Agency's Open Day and hope that we see plenty of visitors. Marine personnel will be happy to explain operations undertaken at Port Control supervising a port which is one of the busiest in the UK. Our facilities will be open from 11 am to 4 pm."
