A popular seaside cawl festival won’t be served up this year.
Saundersfoot’s ‘Cawl Festival’ has been a popular fixture on the events calendar down the years, as part of the village’s annual St. David’s Day ‘Food and Craft Festival’, but organisers have made the decision not to go ahead with the contest this year.
The Festival even attracted Welsh rugby stars such as Alun Wyn Jones and Ken Owens (pictured) to the seaside village in recent years.
“After careful consideration and acknowledgement of the current economic climate, the Chamber for Tourism committee have made the decision to postpone this year’s cawl event,” said Chair of Saundersfoot Chamber for Tourism, - Dilys Hackett.
“With the current escalated costs of living having an impact on both businesses and families, along with ongoing staffing issues for hospitality and food retailers, we felt it unfair to expect local businesses to undertake additional costs and extra stresses on their already stretched resources.
“We hope this ‘time out’ will give us the opportunity to look at a more refreshed and exciting cawl event for the future,” she added.
