WELL-KNOWN local postie, Dan Folland, recently retired from the Royal Mail after spending 36 years working at various levels of the Post Office. Dan began work as a postman in March 1970, delivering mail to Penally residents on a push-bike. The first post-master he worked with was Mr. Kenny Edwards, when the mail was received and dispatched by the train arriving at Tenby Railway Station. Dan retired last month from his position, which was formally known as PHG (Postman Higher Grade), after seeing many changes to the postal service over the years and making many friends along the way. Dan is sure to miss the comradeship of the working environment, as surely many of his customers will miss him. Many thanks must be expressed for the gifts and good wishes he received from colleagues and customers and also for the many thousands of work suits cleaned and ironed by his wife!

Local postman Dan Folland is pictured receiving his certificate of long service from area manager Penny Francis.
