THE Queen's Hall, Narberth, will be buzzing next weekend with two popular events returning for the autumn season. Laugh Lines Comedy Club, on Thursday, October 7, has proved to be the tonic that has lifted audiences out of their everyday cares and woes with top line comics from far and wide who never fail to raise people's spirits. The new series kicks-off with Craig Campbell, who is effortlessly amusing on the slightest of stories, Dougie Dunlop, who is well travelled and who tells his tales with the skill of a seasoned raconteur. The oddly named Silky is a quick-witted and easy-going compere with friendliness and an ability to ad lib and banter. The comedy club is fun for a night out with friends, and Café Q will be serving delicious snacks at the bar. Baka Beyond have just returned from a wildly successful American tour with their uniquely brilliant blend of African and Irish music. Their first show in the UK will be at the Queen's Hall the following day on Friday, October 8, to thrill the dancers with their multicultural sound. "It's fantastic," said singer and dancer Denise Rowe. "Every gig is like a party. It's great to see so any different types of people enjoying themselves together because of our music." Originally inspired by the music of the Baka people of Cameroon, Baka Beyond has evolved over 10 years to become a dynamic eight-piece band that creates a powerful and spirited live show that is a feast for the eyes and heart as well as the ears and feet. The night will be enhanced by décor and DJ work by Shana. Doors open at 8 pm and tickets for all Span shows can be reserved on (01834) 869323. Members of the band will do a workshop on their projects with the Baka people of Cameroon on Saturday, October 9, at 11 am, in the Span building.
