A well-known former face of Tenby celebrates a landmark birthday this Wednesday, and is sure to read all about it in the Observer which she still subscribes to.
Former resident of 'Chirk' on Tenby's Narberth Road, Mrs. Poppy Saunders, who now lives in Seaford, near Eastbourne, will be turning 100 years old on Tuesday.
Prior to her moving to Seaford, where she lives near her late son David's family, she also lived at The Mount in Penally, where her late husband, Mr. Robert 'Bob' Saunders owned a garage in the village.
"Poppy was an excellent cook and was known to never fail to delight with her wonderful recipes; she was a keen artist and gardener and member of several local groups," explained her great-niece Janet Lewis.
"She was well known in Tenby and I am sure that anyone who knew her would be interested to know that she is in good health and keeps up to date with things through the Tenby Observer," added Janet, who along with her parents Robert (Poppy's nephew) and Tegwyn and family would like to wish Poppy a very happy 100th.
