Sir,

I am writing on behalf of the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal to say a big thank to everyone in the Amroth, Begelly, Kilgetty, Llanteg, Saundersfoot, and Stepaside communities for all their hard work in making this year's appeal a success. 

I refer in particular to the house-to-house collectors, the proprietors of shops and pubs and to those individuals,  local organisations and clubs who organised special fund-raising events for the appeal.

Needless to say, a big thank you must also go to those members of the public who bought their poppies with their pennies, pounds, and in several cases notes. Details of the 2009 collections will be published in the Observer next week.

I would personally like to thank members of the Saundersfoot Community Council who individually helped with the administration of the appeal.
