St. Florence Carnival takes place on the Bank Holiday weekend, and pictured is a group of dogs who will take part in the Shaggy Dog Show on Sunday, August 29, at 2 pm at the Village Field. Classes include the following: dog with the most appealing face; waggiest tail; shaggiest; best condition; funniest name; fancy-dress for dog and owner; dog who looks most like owner and the best looking six legs! Everyone is welcome to enter their pet in as many classes as they wish. Entries will be taken from 1.30 pm. Following the dog show, at 4 pm will be the very exciting sport of 'Dog Racing'. Races will be suitable for all domestic pets, irrespective of size, age and weight. Only the dogs run - not the owners! So bring along your dogs for a fun-packed few hours of laughs. The next day, Monday, August, 30, also at the Village Field, the carnival fun starts at 2 pm with the Sedan Chair Race. This year there will also be racing for 'Anything with Wheels'. So get your old prams and wheelbarrows spruced up for the occasion - one passenger per vehicle who must be aged 16 or over. For more information, contact Alan on 871336. Other events will be fancy-dress, a demonstration by the fire brigade, a classic car display, stalls, refreshments and much more. The weekend will be rounded off with live music from the band 'Strictly Business', plus a barbecue and bar.
