GOOD transport connectivity across Wales is vital in supporting businesses, creating jobs, and boosting our economy, Welsh Conservatives argue: “Yet Labour and Plaid’s direct attack on Welsh motorists is slowing Wales down and holding our economy back.”

In the Senedd today, the Welsh Conservatives have brought forward a debate calling on the Welsh Labour Government to support their calls to restore the default speed limit to 30mph, build and M4 relief road, upgrade the A55, dual the A40, deliver a third Menai crossing, and unfreeze all road projects.

Their argument is as follows:

“Under Labour and Plaid, we have seen 20mph default speed limits introduced, the M4 relief road scrapped, and the freezing of road projects.

“The Welsh economy is lagging behind the rest of the United Kingdom, with the lowest wage packets, and our infrastructure crumbling due to underinvestment.”

That’s why the Welsh Conservatives believe their “pro-motorist agenda” will deliver more jobs and prosperity, and get the country’s economy moving.

Commenting ahead of the debate, Welsh Conservative Shadow Cabinet Secretary Finance, Transport and Infrastructure, Sam Rowlands MS, said:

“Labour and Plaid’s attack on Welsh motorists is slowing Wales down and holding our economy back.

“Our Welsh Conservative pro-motorist agenda recognises the importance of good transport connectivity to the economic prosperity of Wales.

“That’s why as part of our plan to fix Wales’ transport system, the Welsh Conservatives will scrap default 20mph speed limits, build an M4 relief road, and upgrade the A55.”
