With Pembrokeshire residents returning to the polls this week, it’s not only county councillors they will be choosing, but in some parts of the county, the make-up of town and community councils too.

On Thursday, May 5 voters will have their say on who represents them at a local level, by electing Pembrokeshire County Councillors and Town and Community Councillors.

Residents who are 16 or over and legally resident in Wales can vote in the election, provided they are registered to do so.

In Tenby, the last time there was an election where there were more candidates than seats on the town council was back in 2008.

With Tenby divided into two electoral wards, North and South, with six town councillors representing the North Ward and seven the South, town councillors are there to act on behalf of all the residents of the town.

The Town Council will see current members Laurence Blackhall, Tracey Anne Evans, Trevor Hallett, Sue Lane, Paul Rapi and Tish Rossiter put their names forward for re-election to the North ward, with local residents Stuart John Fecci, Helen Keohane, Tom Sloan and Duncan Whitehurst throwing their hats into the ring for the six seats.

For the South ward, current councillors Christine Brown, Jim Cornwell, Dai Morgan, Matthew Ronowitz and Sam Skyrme-Blackhall have put their names forward once again; with Tony Brown, Lynn Attewell, Jason Rossiter adding their names to the list to be considered, along with a familiar name to the town’s folk, in actor Charles Dale.
