South Pembrokeshire Parliamentary candidate Marc Tierney has written to Pembrokeshire County Council to prioritise road repairs during the current break in the hot weather.

Temperatures have soared across the county in recent weeks as forecasters liken the recent heatwave to the long hot summer of 1976.

However, as the temperatures have risen so too has the number of potholes, as the tar melts and traffic flows increase. Now Mr. Tierney wants urgent action before road conditions worsen further and the chance of an accident increases.

Marc Tierney, Labour candidate, said: “For weeks, the local authority has been aware of some very poor road conditions - on the A478 between Penblewin and Crymych and on the B4314 between Narberth and Tavernspite. As we approach the start of the school holidays, local roads are about to get much much busier. The potholes I’ve seen are severe, posing dangers in particular for cyclists and motorcyclists.

“I know that Tory austerity has taken its toll on local authority budgets, but Pembrokeshire must find the resources to ensure the safety of road users.”
