Pembrokeshire politicians have joined forces with a cancer information charity to raise awareness of its work.

CANCERactive aims to give evidence-based information on cancer therapies, including orthodox, complementary and alternative treatments.

South Pembrokeshire AM Angela Burns is pictured with Conservative Parliamentary candidate Simon Hart and Christine Morgan from the charity.

"We are only a very small charity and it is a challenge to make ourselves better known," said West Wales regional executive, Christine Morgan.

"We want to make it easier for people to get information on a whole range of issues from ways to tackle and prevent cancer to diet, therapies and treatments.

"Through our website at canceractive.com and our magazine called Icon which is distributed free in hospitals we aim to make it easier for people to learn about what alternatives are available."

Mrs. Burns is now setting up a meeting between the charity and Shadow Welsh Health Minister Jonathan Morgan to help raise CANCERactive's profile in Wales.

She added: "Almost every one of us has been affected by cancer in one way or another and the work of CANCERactive is vital in educating and informing people that there is more than one way to treat the disease."

Mr. Hart added: "Many people want to explore using alternative treatments alongside conventional medicine and CANCERactive provides a one-stop information shop. It's a simple, but brilliant idea."

• Christine will be manning an information table at Carmarthen's Tesco store from 10 am to 3 pm on Wednesday, February 11. She also gives talks on the charity to groups and can be contacted on 01994 484325.
