Dyfed Powys Police are once again supporting Bikesafe schemes in a bid to reduce the number of fatal collisions on our roads.

Bikesafe is an initiative which works with the whole of the biking world to help to lower the number of motorcycle rider casualties.

By passing on their knowledge, skills and experience, police motorcyclists can help you become a safer, more competent rider.

They help you to increase your ability and confidence, so you can get even more enjoyment from riding your motorcycle.

Chief Inspector Steve Matchett said: "Last year we had 11 motorcycle deaths in the force area.

"As soon as the weather starts to turn sunnier, we notice more bikers on our roads and thus unfortunately we see an increase in the number of motorbike related fatalities.

"Over the next few months, we will be targeting motorcyclists who are causing a danger to themselves and others, but our main priority is to help educate them so collisions don't happen in the first place.

"Motorcyclists who continue to break the law need to realise that their anti-social riding will not be tolerated."

The Bikesafe events are being held in Carmarthenshire on April 25 and September 12 and in Aberystwyth on June 20. For more information go to http://www.bikesafe.co.uk">www.bikesafe.co.uk
