As we were going to press yesterday (Thursday), police inquiries were continuing into two burglaries which occurred in the area on Wednesday morning.

Both break-ins happened within a short space of time and Tenby police have not ruled out a possible connection.

One occurred in Clayford Road, Kilgetty, when an 'antique item' was stolen, while the other took place at a premises between Lydstep and Penally sometime between 10.30 am and 1.30 pm.

Taken during the second burglary was a wooden jewellery box containing various items of jewellery, including a gold sovereign bracelet and a gold 'gate-type' bracelet.

"Due to the similarity of the crimes, we have not ruled out a possible connection and are actively pursuing all lines of inquiry," Inspector Ewan Davies, of Tenby police station, told the Observer.

"We would also like to advise people to be vigilant and to be mindful of ensuring that their premises are secure before they leave them."
