Following Monday's meeting of the Dyfed Powys Police Authority members unanimously approved the 2009/2010 budget which produces a council tax precept for residents of £173.70 for a band D property.
This equates to less than £15 per month or 47p per day and is equivalent to an increase of 4.95 per cent.
Chief Constable of Dyfed Powys Police, Mr. Ian Arundale, emphasised how challenging setting the budget this year had been and even though some developments had been possible, it had been necessary for the force to deliver efficiency savings of over £2.3 million.
"One priority for next year is to further professionalise the way we deliver services to our citizens. I am confident that these improvements will enable us to remain the best performing force in England and Wales."
Chair of the Police Authority, Mr. Alisdair Kenwright, added: "In these difficult economic times, Police Authority members were mindful of trying to minimise any increases of the precept as much as possible whilst also ensuring we do our best to protect and maintain front line policing in our communities."
