It was an auspicious occasion where Dyfed Powys Police pay tribute to the hard-work and sheer tenacity of officers and members of staff that often work in stressful and very demanding situations that can involve dealing with people at their most vulnerable.
This year over 50 officers and members of staff were presented with awards for long services and good conduct. The awards are presented by the HM Lord Lieutenant of Powys, Mrs. Shan Legge-Burke and the HM Lord Lieutenant of Dyfed, Mr. Robin Lewis and Mrs. Judith Lewis.
Special awards were made to individuals who have made a significant contribution to the force.
Among the awards was the student officer of the year which was presented to Police Constable Tanya Potter, who is now based at Tenby Police Station.
Throughout Tanya's probation period, which she undertook in the Powys Division, she demonstrated excellent individual skills and could carry out a variety of policing tasks with little or no supervision. She carries out her duties in a calm and professional manner showing politeness, tolerance and respect to everyone.
Tanya has a proven track record for fully understanding a situation, drawing logical conclusions before acting on information. Tanya is capable of adapting to all areas of policing. She has been involved in CID led operations and she has worked with public protection unit. Tanya has also been involved in a wide variety of incidents including different crimes, road traffic collisions, domestic situations, public order and racist incidents.
A committed and professional officer whose work is of a high standard Tanya has gained the respect of her colleagues, supervisors and the community that she serves.
