Tenby's police chief has revealed that officers in Tenby and Saundersfoot attended over 6,000 incidents during last year.
Inspector Les Clark told town councillors at their meeting on Tuesday evening that some of the incidents were only of a minor nature, but many involved serious crimes and acts of violence. "The force target is for officers to arrive at a scene within 20 minutes for 90 per cent of all such reports.
"Officers in Tenby and Saundersfoot adhered to the target in 2006. In fact, they arrived at scenes of immediate response incidents in the Tenby area within 10 minutes for about two-thirds of all such reported incidents," said Insp Clark.
