Dyfed-Powys Police are appealing for witnesses to a fatal road accident at the weekend.

Forty-two-year-old Nicola Theresa Park from the Pontsticill area of Merthyr Tydfil tragically died in the accident on the A40 on Saturday afternoon. The accident occurred when a Volkswagen motor vehicle and a Land Rover were in collision near Bancyfelin at approximately 2.10 pm.

The Land Rover, which was travelling eastbound towards Carmarthen, crossed the carriageway and was in collision with the Volkswagen heading westbound towards St. Clears.

Sadly, the driver of the Volkswagen was pronounced dead at the scene.

The A40 was closed for several hours while police conducted examinations of the site of the collision, with diversions being put in place through the village of Bancyfelin.

Police are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision, but has not already contacted them, to telephone 0845 330 2000.
