Police are investigating a road tragedy in Pemboke.

It occurred just after 10 am on Saturday at Mill Pond Bridge.

The collision involved a single decker bus and a pedestrian. Tragically, the 75-year-old female pedestrian died at the scene.

A 54-year-old male was arrested in connection with the incident. He has since been released on bail pending further police enquiries.

As we were going to press yesterday (Thursday), the family of the victim released the following statement: "It is with deep sadness and regret that the Hanks family confirm the death of Margaret in an incident on the Mill Bridge, Pembroke, on Saturday, March 7.

"Wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she will leave an unfillable vacuum in the lives of all those who loved and knew her."
