Police are appealing for information following two New Year assaults.

The first occurred outside Saundersfoot's Hean pub at approximately 1 am on New Year's Day.

A male person was punched to the floor then further punched and kicked by a group of three males.

One of the attackers was described as having blond spiky hair.

In a second unrelated incident, a 24-year-old woman was the victim of an unprovoked attack by a man outside her front door as she returned home from the New Year's Eve celebrations in Tenby.

The incident occurred at approximately 4.40 am in the town's Clareston Road.

Said the woman's mother: "Suddenly she found that she was being grabbed from behind. She broke away and reached her front door, but the man then caught up with her and thumped her repeatedly in the head with his fist.

"This was not a sexual assault or a robbery; it was sheer violence and a completely random, unprovoked, vicious attack."

The man - who was not known to the victim - is described as white, slim build, six feet tall, and was wearing a dark hooded top.

Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information about either of the incidents to contact Tenby Police Station on 0845 330 2000.
