Police are appealing for information following a burglary and suspected attempted burglary in the Tenby area over the weekend.

The occupants of a private dwelling in the Penally area disturbed an intruder who they discovered in a bedroom at the property at 5 am on Saturday. The occupants were unharmed and no property is believed to have been stolen.

In a separate incident, a burglary took place in Jameston where intruders entered a private dwelling and stole jewellery, sometime between last Thursday and 9.55 pm on Sunday. The householders were not in the property at the time of the break-in.

It is not known at this stage whether the two offences are directly linked.

Police are urging jewellers or anyone else likely to be approached with the sale of jewellery to be on alert and to contact police if they have any suspicion about the origin of any such property offered to them.

Police are also keen to identify the occupants of a yellow coloured transit type van that was seen in the locality last week.

Police are reassuring members of the public that such incidents are rare in Pembrokeshire, but advise householders to review their home security to ensure properties and possessions are secure during absences from the home. They should also immediately report any behaviour by any person they think is suspicious to the police.

Anyone who has any information concerning these incidents is asked to contact Tenby Police via telephone number 101, or alternatively, contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
