From time to time police officers in the county receive complaints about use of mini motorcycles by young people. These cycles are noisy and they often cause annoyance to residents, especially the elderly. Insp. Clark at Tenby Police Station points out that before purchasing a mini motorcycle for their children, parents should consider the following: 1. If used on public spaces, riders must be wearing a helmet. Riders must have appropriate driving licence and insurance. 2. If used on a public space, the bike must be registered and taxed. 3. The rider of a cycle involved in an accident will be liable for his actions whether he has insurance or not (it could get a bit expensive and parents may be pursued for the cash!).
"Roads, pavements, car parks and playing fields are not private spaces and the above rules apply," said Insp. Clark. "Officers in this division are instructed to seize motorcycles used in contravention of the above rules and we do so on a regular basis."
