The new point to point season is scheduled to begin on Sunday, January 2, with the West Wales area meeting over the Lydstep course.

As the thaw begins to set in, secretary Christine Toy says the steeplechase course is all set up and ready. If the ground remains unfit, there is a possibility that the fixture may be put back a week or a new date sought sometime in February.

The adverse weather throughout December has also hindered training and there could be a question hanging over the fitness of some horses to race.

The other fixtures for the coming season are: Vale of Clettwr - January 29; Tivyside - March 20; South Pembrokeshire - March 25; Banwen Miners - May 2; Pembrokeshire - June 4.
