On Saturday, June 30, the Haverfordwest branch of the Royal British Legion visited the underground Somme Museum at Albert (France). They then on to Ollives village, where Pembrokeshire men of the 38th Welsh Division grouped before the attack on Mametz Wood (July 7, 1916).
A short service was held at the Welsh Dragon memorial site, where a poppy posy was laid by Mrs. Mary Evans, secretary of the Women's Section. The names of the fallen Pembrokeshire men were also read out, and the exhortation recited.
Also visited were the Lochnigar Crater and the Thiepval Memorial to the missing of the Great War. On Sunday, July 1, at the Menin Gate Last Post Ceremony, poppy wreaths were laid by Mr. Peter Harrison and Mrs. Doreen Warlow. The standard bearers were Mr. Richard Devonald and Mrs. Trish Hall.
