Pupils and staff at Saundersfoot School had a splashing start to 2005 when they took part in the village's New Year's Day Charity Swim dressed as penguins. In total, 204 pupils, staff, parents and friends of the school dressed as the plucky birds to raise money for school funds. And their brave efforts have resulted in the excellent sum of in excess of £4,000 being raised. "A huge thanks must go to all involved, especially the parents, with a special thanks to Mrs. Linda Hensman," said teacher, Mr. Mick Booth. "Well done to everyone who took part on such a memorable day and managed to raise in excess of £4,000 for the school." Some of the participants are seen here proudly showing off their medals.
