Sir,

While I would praise the Chancellor's decision to retain free entry to museums, I must point out that this does not apply to ALL museums.

Many, including Tenby Museum and Art Gallery, receive only small amounts of public money and rely on the entrance fee to 'stay in business'.

Tenby Museum is the oldest independent museum in Wales and has charitable status. Not only does it give access for both locals and visitors to the rich diversity of artefacts and information that a local museum can provide, but it is a useful resource for education, with regular visits from school children.

Everyone's budgets are stretched at the moment and, for a day out, the price of a ticket to the museum can provide hours of fascination and activity for all ages. So, please ask your readers to support their local museum!

Dr Kathy Talbot,

Hon Curator,

Tenby Museum and Art Gallery.
